No news is good news

the team!
Howdy!

Just finished up with pre field training. It was absolutely incredible. It was a blast and the people there were so so cool. The first day at pre field I wanted to just skip it and head straight to Honduras, but I am SO thankful for every second I got to spend there. It challenged me and prepared my heart to go. God taught me so much from those few days I had there. From team building to being thankful for my weaknesses so that I can rely on God's strength. I definitely feel way more prepared for the field now.We had several meetings and group activities. My favorite was the ropes course. So tiring but the team building was awesome! The last night we spend an hour and a half in prayer and it was SO cool to have so many people praying for me!
One of the things they told us there is that 'No news is good news'. That means that they don't want us contacting home very much at all. Our purpose is to connect to the people group there, and in order to do that is to disconnect from home. Since I only get a short time to be in Honduras, I want to give it my all. I want to be fully focused there. So forgive me if I do not contact you or blog as much as I want.  However, I will try to update once a week or once every other week.
I am so excited that God chose me to serve this summer!
PRAYER:
  • Traveling safety(going through customs, not getting sick on the plane/bus ride)
  • Language barrier
  • For me to be a servant and have a servants heart
  • To come back changed

So it begins!

Howdy! Day one of travel and pre field is done! It was quite the day. Today I got up at 6 and started traveling at 730. My wonderful brother drove me 5 hours to my friend, Alex's, house who I met up with and then I rode with him to pre field training because he is going through the same organization to Ethiopia. My brother then proceeded to drive 5 hours back home. He's the best brother ever. It took about 2.5 hours from Alexs to get to Brevard which is where pre field is. I signed in at 4pm and met a few people and then it was dinner time. The food is better than typical camp food. There is about 35 of us interns here. We had worship time after dinner and then played 'never have I ever' in a huge circle. It was lots of fun. Then we had free time which I of course participated in any kind of sport that was being played. Volleyball to soccer to football to the game signs. It was fun hanging out and getting to know the other interns. they are so neat and going all over the country! William is the other member of my team, and we get a long just fine. Tomorrow my day starts early again. Breakfast at 730! Then they have a full day for us.It is beautiful up here in the mountains. Its at a conference center so its in the middle of nowhere. SO awesome. I'm thankful for my time here, however I am very eager to get to Honduras.. 2 full days of pre field training then shipping us out! SO PUMPED. Thank you for the continual prayers! Grace and peace

Until next time.

T- 5 days!

Time is flying!! I only have 5 days left in Spotsylvania!! Then I head to pre field training at Brevard College, in North Carolina, where I will spend time with all of the other interns and take time to learn about the customs of the land and prepare our hearts to go. Also, I will meet the other fella going with me to Honduras.  He and I are the only ones going there, the rest of our team is already down in La Ceiba. I am thankful for him because I would probably get lost trying to fly international for the first time!  Pre field will go through the 31st of May and then we leave early morning on the 1st to fly out to Honduras. I should be there by noon, so pray for safe travels and that I wont be exhausted.
I just want to say thank you to all who are supporting me in prayer and have supported me finacially. I truly couldn't have done it without you all. I'm so thankful for the picture of God's faithfulness through your acts of support. I am so eager to go and see how the Lord will use me this summer.
This is the first of hopefully many blog posts. I hope to keep you all up to date as much as possible. I love you all!
